We all watched last night in stunned amazement as Democrats proved that they really just don’t care what the American people think anymore, despite overwhelming polling data, mass demonstrations, and unprecedented outrage from the taxpaying citizens of this country.
Our conservative representatives in Congress, including our own Marsha Blackburn, have done an outstanding job of fighting for us. They have worked tirelessly and pursued every angle to stop this legislation.
Can it still be stopped? Maybe. This bill was so bad that they had to immediately pass follow-up legislation to “fix” parts of it? Which brings to mind a question: If it was objectionable, why would they pass it in the first place?
If there is a silver lining to all of this — it’s that we’re awake now. We get it. We realize this isn’t a game anymore. We know that it is time to act.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking that liberal Democrats who are willing to make phony backroom deals, or who want to restrict your liberty, are limited to the corridors of power in Washington D.C. For every Nancy Pelosi, every Charlie Rangel, every Harry Reid — there are many more roaming the halls of the State Legislature, or in County and City government.
A mere 15 years ago, just a few more voters in an Illinois State Senate district - where Barack Obama was first elected to public office - could have stopped the wheels from being put in motion that ultimately led to teh bill that passed yesterday.
The point is that elections matter - every election matters. Even mere local elections. Every time that you have the opportunity to vote, you have the opportunity to direct the future.
