Outrage! ACORN Founder invited to UofM
Just a few months after inviting Obama’s pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the University of Memphis is hosting yet another far-left extremist.
Wade Rathke founded ACORN in 1970 and served as its “Chief Organizer” until resigning last year after his brother embezzled almost a million dollars from the organization. Rathke failed to inform law enforcement and other members of ACORN’s board of directors about this crime.Read more about Rathke on Wikipedia
Rathke’s lecture is sponsored by the University of Memphis Graduate Program in City and Regional Planning. What does Rathke have to do with city planning? ACORN has been cited on numerous occasions around the country for criminal activity and voter fraud.
We are outraged that the University of Memphis administration has connected itself with such an enterprise. Just a couple of months ago, an undercover investigation revealed that ACORN was willing to provide assistance in securing financing for an underage prostitution ring.
This lecture will be this Monday night (11/23) at 6:30pm at Room 136 of the Fogelman Executive Conference Center.
While we support the right to free speech, especially in an educational environment, institutions that accept public funds should be impartial, and much more discerning about the type of individuals to whom it grants the legitimizing privilege of access to an official university-sponsored platform.
We encourage you to contact U of M President Shirley Raines and respectfully express your concern about left-wing bias at our hometown University campus. It is outrageous that the Uof M has invited a parade of radicals to speak at events, and totally unacceptable to welcome such a character as Wade Rathke.
Contact Dr. Raines about this outrage!
