Congrats to our own Republican Shelby County Sheriff Mark Luttrell who was named the 2009 Sheriff of the Year by the National Sheriff’s Association.

The award designates Sheriff Luttrell as the top Sheriff in the association’s membership of 20,000. The award specifically mentioned Sheriff Luttrell’s leadership to get the Sheriff’s Office law enforcement division, the men’s and women’s jails and the medical units at the facilities nationally accredited. Sheriff Luttrell said “I feel honored and enjoy working with the dedicated staff of the Sheriff’s Office which led to this award”
