2006 Republican Judicial Endorsements

The following judicial candidates have been endorsed by the Republican Party of Shelby County in the upcoming elections on August 3, 2006. These individuals were recommended after six months of candidate interviews by the Party’s Candidate Recruitment Committee. The final endorsement decisions were ratified by the Party’s Steering Committee in its May and June meetings.

The slate reflects the diversity of our community and includes incumbents, challengers, and open-seat candidates. In one race, General Sessions Division 4, the Committee recommended that voters cast their ballots for one of two qualified candidates, Henderson or Kizer.

The primary criterion used by the Committee was the legal qualifications of the candidates. These candidates have been judged by the Party to be persons who will interpret the law as it is written by our elected legislators, rather than attempting to re-write law from the bench. They will be featured on a Judicial Ballot to be mailed to Republican voters prior to the election.
