Steve Cohen Flashback: Republicans will never win again
Congressman Steve Cohen has a long history of making inflammatory remarks aimed at dehumanizing and debasing his political opponents. Here’s one of his rather arrogant remarks from the Democratic National Convention in 2008:
Steve Cohen Flashback:
“It’s post-Republican politics. It’s symbolic of the fact that in Shelby County a Republican is never again going to win a countywide seat in Shelby County. Never!”
quoted by Jackson Baker in the Memphis Flyer, August 28, 2008
Just two years later, in August 2010 — thanks to the efforts of many volunteers and voters who were willing to give our candidates the opportunity to serve them — Republicans Mark Luttrell, Bill Oldham, Jimmy Moore, Kevin Key, Joy Touliatos, Paul Boyd, Wayne Mashburn, and Tom Leatherwood won every Countywide seat on the ballot.
